Leadership

Ethan Sample

Co-Founder, Co-Director. CBE ’25.

Hi I’m Ethan! I co-founded the club with Reha and Joanne in fall 2022; I’m currently a director. I’m a junior studying chemical engineering – I’m particularly interested in protein design for therapeutic applications. A fun fact about me is that I was held back in preschool! I also like narrative video games!

Reha Mathur

Co-Founder, Co-Director. CBE ’25.

I’m a CBE senior interested broadly in computational simulations and bioengineering. I’m one of the co-presidents and I’m super excited to develop the Princeton Biotech Group! On campus, I’m also involved with TigerLaunch and I like to play squash!

Joanne Peng

Co-Founder, Co-Director. Computer Science ’25.

Joanne is a researcher in the Boyden lab at MIT, where she works on tools for brain aging including spatial transcriptomics and proteomics. She also builds moonshot science initiatives in brain aging, neurotech, spinal cord injury, and cryopreservation at Amaranth Foundation, where she is chief of staff. Previously, she was a Thiel Fellow, conducted research on mitochondrial dynamics at the Biomedical Institute at MaRS, COVID testing at Curative, and brain cancer at the Buck Institute. Joanne has been supported by the Thiel Foundation, Interact, Day One Project, the Institute for Progress, the Davis UWC Foundation, and VitaDAO. At Princeton, Joanne studies computer science and physics. Fun fact: She learned drive a tractor before a car.

Margaret Miao

Co-Director. Design Lead (’22-’23). MAE ’26.

Hello! I am Margaret Miao. I am majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a certificate in Engineering Biology and robotics. My major area of interest in the current Biotech scene include: regenerative/biomaterials engineering, soft robotics, prosthetics, and medical technology. In my free time, I love to draw, swim, play my violin, and play games with my friends. Despite living in Australia for 4 years and being a citizen, I have not seen a Kangaroo.

Kim Tran

Treasurer

I’m a Molecular Biology major interested in molecular imaging techniques and biomaterial-based cancer therapeutics! In the club, I am working on our speaker series. Outside of class, I am having an awesome time in the Brangwynne Lab studying ribosome biogenesis in the multiphase nucleolus.

Jonathan Afowork

Alumni Relationships Officer

Hey! I’m a sophomore intending to major in Molecular Biology as an aspiring physician-scientist. I’m most fascinated by drug development and regenerative medicine in the biotech industry, and I’m excited to share experiences in these fields through our Speaker Series with life sciences executives and founders. In my free time, I like listening to music, hanging around Frist with friends, and playing basketball.

Maya Butani

Trips Coordinator Officer

Maya is an intended molecular biology major who is interested in tissue engineering, personalized medicine, and immuno-therapeutics. She is the Trip Teams Director, and is passionate about increasing undergraduate exposure to the biotech industry. In high school, she created a kitchen lab to create tissue engineering scaffolds from her groceries!

Mihir Rao

Officer

I’m a computer science concentrator at Princeton interested in applying machine learning and statistics to gain useful insights from clinical and biological data. I help lead the Princeton Biotechnology Group’s efforts on the algorithms front, running presentations and interactive workshops on the latest computational methods in biotechnology. In my free time, I enjoy drumming for the Princeton Jazz Ensemble.

Rishabh Rout

Head Events Officer

My name is Rishabh and I’m the current events director. I’m a senior in COS pursuing a certificate in Quantitative Computational Biology. My main interests lie the relationships between multiomics data, and a fun fact about me is that I have a pet parrot named Tia.
